The project will broaden the curriculum of the existing bicycle and pedestrian transportation course at Portland State University by adding a new two-credit applied lab that will be offered concurrently with the existing, three-credit undergraduate/graduate lecture course.  It will be offered in the fall term of 2008 in the Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning.

The new course will be offered as an optional add-on for students in the three-credit bicycle and pedestrian planning course to provide them with an opportunity to apply the academic and theoretical knowledge gained in the lecture course to develop and design solutions to projects.  It will be developed and designed to complement the content of the lecture course and allow the students to explore and test the theories through a practice-based project.

It will be open to undergraduate and graduate students in planning and engineering programs who are concurrently enrolled in the bicycle and pedestrian transportation lecture course.
